Lotus silk scarf dharma
£251.45
Exclusive naturally dyed lotus silk scarf from Myanmar.
Unique in Europe. This scarf is handwoven by women living in the water villages on Lake Inle in Myanmar. Their specialty is the production of holy lotus silk.
The women also make their own dyestuff, using only natural ingredients.
They spin the lotus fibre from the golden threads that can be found inside the stem of a lotus flower. A very time consuming job.
Lotus silk is traditionally used to make the robes of important Buddhist monks. The lotus flower is considered very special in Buddhism.
The artisans dedicate their time and attention to the production of each and every robe and scarf. Unique piece by unique piece.
