Scarf from wool and silk - from Pakistan
2013-08-04 - Soft and supple scarf covered with tiny shiny beads from Pakistan. This Fairtrade scarf is made from a mix of wool and silk. Handwoven in traditional design by gipsy women from Faisalabad and the Thar Desert.
The gipsy women are being supported by Habitat Integrated Pakistan (HIP), a local Fairtrade organisation that opened its doors in 1992. Amongst others HIP organises different trainings so the women can learn how to practice a profession and earn an income.
The women artisans make their handwork in the small workshops HIP is providing. In those workshops this great scarf was made. HIP helps the women with the sales.
